♥ Erdem

I won't lie, I've never really noticed Erdem before. I've been aware of the label, but then I was happily surfing vogue.co.uk this morning instead of doing my history coursework when I came across the pictures from their show at LFW. And WOW. I've never wanted a collection so much. I would wear all of it, except maybe the leather trench coat - I'll leave that to Victoria Beckham and Inspector Gadget.

I want to wear the really long dress to Tesco.
Don't ask me why. I just do.

I could wear this dress to Tesco as well, actually.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (above)

I know that that is a ridiculous amount of pictures but I couldn't narrow my selection down further than that. I want it all.

Burberries.

Christopher Bailey is a very clever, and very nice, man (I shook his hand once).
What he has done with the brand since he joined in 2001 is very smart indeed. It went from being stuffy, just-for-the-upper-crust to being quite hip and trendy.
Getting Kate Moss on board (after the cocaine scandal) really hyped the brand up, and this picture made me really want a trench coat .

Then came the group ads, which I have BIG LOVE for, especially the really early ones featuring Agyness Deyn and Alex Pettyfer.

Then Emma Watson was made the face of Burberry, and as one of the most recognisable actresses around (hello! she's Hermione!), everyone went a little bit crazy.

I LOVE the Autumn/Winter '10-'11 collection that Bailey presented at London Fashion Week on Monday. I love the colours, the mix of light and heavy fabrics, but most of all, I love the coats. Military jackets, shearling  aviator jackets, fur, ponyskin, wool and suede coats.

I don't care that this is a man's coat. I adore it. I want it. Now.

However, as much as I want to rave about Burberry, I can never forget this image that has been burned into my brain and given me and aversion to the legendary Burberry check:

London Fashion Week, er, Sunday

Yesterday, after a minor car-related disaster (apparently the oil-gasket blew while we were on the motorway), Dad and I headed for London Fashion Week. Thanks to the car, and the ineptitude of South-Eastern rail services, we missed the Betty Jackson show (grrr), but we were right on time for Margaret Howell. We sat front row, which was more than a little bit cool, and we were opposite Alexandra Shulman (I had a minor fashion geek meltdown). A few people down from us was Alexa Chung, who is one of my style inspirations, but I did have to explain to my father who she was.
I do wish I wasn't wearing my glasses in this picture though - I look a bit stupid.
Margaret Howell's collection was as good as ever - lots of chunky knits and tartan with belted waists and mannish trousers, jackets and shoes. The colour scheme was definitely toned down, but there a couple of bright splashes of red here and there. Also in the collection were some gorgeous coats, which I may have to get my parents to invest in next season.
Todd Lynn was next, presenting a uniform-inspired collection, in muted colours similar to those at Margaret Howell, with lots of big furry shoulder pieces.

Military style jackets and narrow leg trousers made up a large part of the collection, so I don't think I need to be worrying about parting from my skinny jeans just yet.
The next show was Louise Goldin for Topshop, which I didn't get any pictures of (sob). But I think all that really needs to be said of the green-themed collection is that Lady Gaga will probably be putting in a large order soon and that I really want some red rhinestone studded leggings/cycling shorts.
Finally, we headed to the Banqueting House for Julien Macdonald. The first show I was at LFW was when I was 15 and it was a Julien Macdonald presentation, with Naomi Campbell and Lily Cole on the catwalk. Unfortunately, we couldn't get seats because the security guard had taken on the belief that everyone needed to KEEP BACK and away from the catwalk. But even with my limited view of the show I could see that lace, thick knits and muted colours will be the way to go next season.

When we returned to the car, much later than expected thanks to signal failure at Victoria, it was still broken, so while we waited for the AA, we ended up in a pub in Rochester.  As a result, my outfit photo was taken on my phone, which has a terrible camera.

I'm wearing a vintage scarf, which is actually meant to be part of a sari, that I stole from my mother, Topshop (faux) leather jacket, Topshop net skirt with petticoat and my lovely New Look boots which Alexa Chung told me she liked, when I said I liked her Chanel ones.

Best Glamour Shoot EVER

This has to be the best shoot Glamour (UK) has ever done. Every clique in the common room had this stuck up on their notice board, until our head of year told us to take them down.
From the October 2008 "If men edited Glamour" issue, this is a typical Glamour shoot - fresh faced model looks gorgeous in party frocks - but add Ed Westwick, and suddenly it's quite special.

My favourite part? They've tried (and failed) to disguise the fact that the model
is several inches taller than Ed Westick.

Snow Day

When it snowed on Thursday, I had no school, and I couldn't resist going out and taking some pictures. The snow just looked too gorgeous, and because everyone is bored of the snow and couldn't be bothered to go out, a lot of it was pure and white, instead of slushy and grey.

The skirt is from Betty Jackson, and it belonged to my mum in the 80s, the red scarf and tights are from Accessorize, the (faux) leather jacket is from Topshop and my beautiful boots are from New Look - I wear them everywhere now.
I wore this outfit to school last week and while I was walking to my lesson, a Year 11 looked me up and down, turned to her friend and said "Have you seen what that girl is wearing?". Whatever. All Year 11s look the same anyway.

Geek Chic

About three years ago, before I got contact lenses, it was not cool to wear glasses. Now it's a whole different ball game. Glasses are THE cool accessory, whether there are lenses or plain old glass in the frames. Being a geek has become trendy, and suddenly other geeky things have become part of mainstream style, like wearing ankle socks with pumps and brogues, and wearing braces and doing up the top button on a shirt.
As someone who, at least for some of the time, has to wear glasses, I'm glad that they've become stylish because it means that more frames have become available.

Even Topshop has got in on the act.

Cupcakes that have since been devoured by four hungry teenage boys.

In a never-before-seen turn of events, I made some cupcakes today.

They're plain vanilla sponge with blue buttercream icing, decorated with silver balls and edible glitter.
