New glasses, new room.

Before I left for university, I decided I wanted some new glasses. I had a pair that I really disliked, and as a result, I really didn't wear them. I bought this Dior pair from Vision Express - they were expensive, but the amount of time I will spend wearing them justifies the price - I've already worn them so many times in the 10 days that I've had them.

This is my new room in my halls at university, and this is the only place where I can get an full length outfit shot - standing on my bed, with my camera on the shelves opposite. I don't have a full length mirror, so I'm using this technique to see what my clothes look like. It does make deciding what shoes to wear difficult.
I'm wearing a black H&M cotton dress, black M&S tights and my Dior glasses.

Geek Chic

About three years ago, before I got contact lenses, it was not cool to wear glasses. Now it's a whole different ball game. Glasses are THE cool accessory, whether there are lenses or plain old glass in the frames. Being a geek has become trendy, and suddenly other geeky things have become part of mainstream style, like wearing ankle socks with pumps and brogues, and wearing braces and doing up the top button on a shirt.
As someone who, at least for some of the time, has to wear glasses, I'm glad that they've become stylish because it means that more frames have become available.

Even Topshop has got in on the act.

"You bug-eyed freak!"

Has anyone else noticed how similar the sunglasses Katy Perry wore in the video for If We Ever Meet Again are to the glasses Johnny Depp wore as Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

I wasn't aware that bug-style sunglasses had come back into fashion - I though everyone was still wearing their Ray-Bans, in continuation of the 80s throwback trend.
Katy looks pretty cool though; I can't think of anyone else who could wear these and pull them off, except maybe the craziness that is Lady Gaga.
